The best way to get to know a dog better is by taking him on regular walks. This way you can find out what kind of nature the dog has and whether you are a good match. At the shelter, discuss the dog’s nature with the shelter keeper, the dog’s medical condition with the vet and secure preventing the pet from getting lost with the dispatcher. If you are still hesitant, you can arrange to take the dog home for a so-called “long dog walking“, which lasts for 14 days.

If you opt for adoption, bring your own collar, leash or crate and after filling out the paperwork and paying the adoption fee, you can take the dog to his new home. Please keep in mind that only a person over the age of 18 with a valid ID may pick up the pet. The animals will go to their new home treated, vaccinated and microchipped. These procedures and treatments are included in the adoption fee.

CONDITIONS OF ADOPTION

– valid ID card

– you must be over 18 years of age

– suitable conditions for raising a dog:

Dogs and cats are social animals and solitude is not an ideal condition for them. What they need most is human contact. Therefore, it is necessary to provide the pet with the company of family members, as well as daily activities (free movement, walking, playing) and to allow the animals access to the living area of the house. Under no circumstances should the pet be isolated all day (in a flat or aviary). In addition to the equipment (bed, toys…) it needs proper veterinary care, basic obedience skills and, especially in the case of adopted animals, a large dose of patience and love.

– if the dog will be outdoors off-leash – it needs an insulated dog kennel/doghouse of adequate size with a floor (preferably elevated), we also recommend daily walks and access to the house;

– if the dog will be outdoors in a kennel – the kennel must be spacious, with an insulated/elevated floor, allowing the animal to have a view and contact with the surroundings, equipped with an insulated dog kennel/doghouse of adequate size to protect the dog from adverse weather conditions (direct sunlight, humidity, cold), daily releasing, walks, and access to the house;

– dog in a flat – regular walks, equipment: collar, leash, bed, toys…

– the dog must not be kept on a chain!

– daily feeding; the shelter staff or the attending veterinarian will gladly provide you with information on the suitability of the available food and nutritional care;

– regular check-ups at the vet: medical check-ups, optional and legally required vaccinations – rabies, regular deworming, dental care, etc… It is recommended to regularly visit one vet, who will know the health genesis of your dog or cat. In the case of cats, a cat litter box is required, and it is recommended (especially if your cat has access to the outdoors) that your cat be microchipped in addition to regular vaccinations and deworming.
